Doumu Yuanjun was formed from the innate yang energy of Yuanshi Tianzun. She is the mother of all stars in the heavens and holds a revered position. According to the "Taishang Xuanling Doumu Dasheng Yuanjun Benming Yansheng Xin Jing," Doumu "uses the great medicine to heal and cure, harmonizes the five elements, descends the two energies, resolves stagnation and removes constraints, breaks darkness and eliminates evil. Those whose time is overdue will meet their time, and those who have lost their way will be guided. She nurtures fetuses, treats illnesses, and is the chief heavenly physician." Thus, she maintains the strong vitality of the universe and all things, ensuring continuous life.

At the same time, Doumu commands the sixty Tai Sui star lords, who are gods in charge of human life, death, sin, and blessings. Therefore, worshipping Doumu can eliminate disasters and solve difficulties, protect life, and prolong existence. Thus, people seeking longevity or those with long-term illnesses that have not healed can pray to Doumu.
